Acceptable Use Policy

Introduction

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") outlines the rules and guidelines that govern the use of Dashhosted's services, including our web hosting services, servers, networks, and other resources. By using our services, you agree to comply with this policy.

We are committed to providing reliable, high-quality hosting services while maintaining a safe and secure environment for all customers. This policy helps us protect our customers, networks, and reputation against abuse, illegal activities, and security threats.

General Conduct

As a Dashhosted customer, you agree not to use our services to:

  • Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or industry standards
  • Infringe upon the legal rights of others, including intellectual property rights
  • Distribute, store, or transmit any content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, invasive of privacy, hateful, or racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable
  • Harm minors in any way
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity
  • Interfere with or disrupt our services or servers or networks connected to our services
  • Collect or store personal data about other users without their explicit consent

System and Network Security

Users are prohibited from violating or attempting to violate the security of the Dashhosted network and services, including but not limited to:

  • Accessing data not intended for you or logging into a server or account which you are not authorized to access
  • Attempting to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of a system or network or to breach security or authentication measures
  • Attempting to interfere with service to any user, host, or network, including without limitation, via means of submitting a virus, overloading, flooding, mail bombing, or crashing
  • Forging any TCP/IP packet header or any part of the header information in any email or newsgroup posting
  • Using any program, script, or command designed to interfere with a user's terminal session
  • Executing any form of network monitoring which will intercept data not intended for you

Violations of system or network security may result in civil or criminal liability. We will investigate such violations and may involve and cooperate with law enforcement authorities in prosecuting users who are involved in such violations.

Prohibited Content and Activities

The following content and activities are strictly prohibited on our services:

Illegal Content

  • Child sexual abuse material or content that sexualizes minors
  • Unauthorized distribution of copyrighted material
  • Content that violates the laws of any applicable jurisdiction
  • Sale or promotion of illegal drugs, substances, or goods
  • Content related to terrorism, extremism, or the incitement of violence

Abusive Activities

  • Spam or unsolicited bulk email
  • Operating botnets or malicious scripts
  • Phishing or fraudulent activities
  • Distributing malware, viruses, or other harmful code
  • Hacking attempts or unauthorized access to systems
  • Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks

Resource Abuse

  • Excessive CPU, memory, disk I/O, network, or other resource usage that disrupts or degrades service for other customers
  • Running applications that are poorly coded, perform excessive database queries, or otherwise consume excessive resources
  • Using shared hosting accounts for file storage or as backup solutions
  • Running BitTorrent or other P2P file sharing applications on shared hosting plans

Email and Communication

All customers must adhere to these email usage policies:

  • You may not send unsolicited bulk email (spam) from our services or advertise a site hosted on our services through unsolicited bulk email
  • You must comply with the CAN-SPAM Act and similar laws in other jurisdictions
  • You must include valid opt-out mechanisms in all marketing emails
  • You may not use purchased or rented email lists for marketing purposes
  • You may not send emails with misleading or deceptive headers, subject lines, or content
  • Email scripts must include safeguards to prevent abuse and unauthorized use

Resource Usage

Dashhosted offers services with allocated resources based on your chosen plan. To ensure fair usage for all customers:

  • Shared hosting accounts may not exceed the published resource limits for CPU, memory, storage, and bandwidth
  • Customers exceeding these limits may be required to upgrade to a more suitable plan
  • Scripts and applications must be optimized for efficient resource usage
  • Database queries should be optimized to prevent excessive server load
  • Cron jobs should not be set to run at intervals less than 15 minutes
  • Dashhosted reserves the right to suspend or throttle accounts that negatively impact server performance for other customers

Monitoring and Enforcement

Dashhosted actively monitors its network and services for security and performance. We may take the following enforcement actions for violations of this policy:

  • Issue warnings and requests to remedy the violation
  • Suspend or restrict access to services until the issue is resolved
  • Remove or disable access to content that violates this policy
  • Terminate accounts for serious or repeated violations
  • Involve law enforcement when necessary
  • Charge you for administrative costs and/or reactivation fees associated with violations

The severity of our response depends on the nature of the violation, history of previous violations, impact on other customers, and other factors determined at our discretion.

Reporting Violations

If you become aware of a violation of our Acceptable Use Policy, please report it to our abuse team at abuse@dashhosted.com. Please include detailed information about the violation, including URLs, email headers, IP addresses, and any other relevant information.
